Marketing automation tools are great at creating flows and sequences to email and text your customers, in order to generate more revenue. The problem with these tools is that creating these flows and sequences require a lot of strategizing and a lot of time. You need a data analyst, email strategist, designer, copywriter, and then you’ve got to actually put it all together and then optimize the campaign.
Retain IQ streamlines this process of creating flows and sequences in an automated fashion. They have thousands of email templates that cover all the crucial eCommerce flows - from welcome flows to abandon cart campaigns, etc.
They aggregate results of these campaigns, flows, and sequences across currently over 700 million email sends in order to optimize templates and continuously test and improve your email marketing efforts.
They also have managed service on top, in case you do need some custom designs on top of a template.
As you’re modifying emails, you can create blocks that can be used across multiple emails and campaigns. You can choose to edit the block locally - for this one email - or globally - for all emails that have this block.
They have a recommendations section that will help you understand what is or isn’t working with your flows and sequences and help you make changes quickly to optimize your campaigns.
Taking the challenges of figuring out what changes you should be making and turning it into “Here is a data-driven change that if you make, we think will improve your conversion rates and revenue.”
They can work on top of your existing Klaviyo. Or you can use them as a standalone tool to create and send emails directly within their platform.
What’s a Rich Text element?
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
RetainIQ was built to ultimately replace the resources needed to complete, launch, and test your email marketing flows and sequences. It’s like having a rockstar email marketer on your team without the cost.
Most other marketing automation platforms start by giving you the ability to build your own flows, with so much flexibility around that that it becomes tough to know what you should actually be doing. RetainIQ has those locked in as templates and instead. So while this may initially feel limiting, it helps focus your efforts and ultimately drives optimization.
RetainIQ isn’t just trying to help you send emails, they are trying to help you improve your email marketing efforts.
First and foremost, RetainIQ is improving your ROI of email marketing campaigns through better and faster optimization. Secondly, they are really helping to cut costs in your marketing department by minimizing the human power needed to complete all of your email marketing campaigns.
And who knows, maybe through optimizing an email campaign, you discover some great copywriting that can be duplicated over to advertising or other channels.
Typically it’s going to be your head of marketing or executive team that is looking for a more streamlined and easy-to-use email/SMS provider, and that is what will likely trigger the idea that you should demo RetainIQ.
After getting a walk through with their team, if you decide to proceed to trial, their team will onboard you with a quick requirements check email to show you the 5 or 6 things they need from you to get you set up. It takes less than a day to gather everything and get you fully onboarded and sending emails in all of your major email sequences.
RetainIQ can be managed by your head of marketing, email marketing specialist, or even you as the founder of your store. The beauty of their tool is that it doesn’t require years of experience in email marketing or copywriting to start using it. You don’t need to take an online course to get started, just follow their guided onboarding process, enable their pre-populated flows, briefly check or edit them for some of your basic copywriting components, or to highlight product C instead of product A. Launch. And then wait for their recommendation tool to give you suggestions for improvement, and enact those changes to see what works and what doesn’t.
Most importantly, RetainIQ requires you to be using both Shopify and Klaviyo. You can technically go with them as your email service provider and not have Klaviyo, but they are best suited for brands using Klaviyo that want automation and recommendations and streamlining around their email marketing processes.
RetainIQ is for the teams that feel like the process of creating, launching, and learning from your email marketing efforts is non-existent or, if it does exist, is bulky and costly and feels a bit painful.
If you have a large and experienced email marketing team with designers and analysts and you really want to keep doing things the slow old school way, that is fine, just know that this could cut your resource costs down substantially, while improving performance.
RetainIQ will not help you get more traffic or get new email subscribers, they are specifically about improving the value and ROI from your existing email list and email marketing efforts.
Agencies can also use RetainIQ for their clients and streamline their internal processes, lower their resource costs, and ultimately provide more value to their clients.
