All about

What is Yottaa?

Yottaa is a page speed load time optimization tool designed to get pages loading faster which will naturally increase conversion rate on your store. Their tool also makes the page experience more consistent and secure.

They keep around 1% of traffic unoptimized (not using Yottaa) so that they can track baseline metrics vs improved metrics, and report back to you on changes that may be affecting page speed load time, bounce rate, and other things affecting the site.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

  • List

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

What makes Yottaa different than competitors?

There are other tools that use Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), Progressive Web Apps (PWA), or Headless Commerce to improve page speed load time. Yottaa is providing a complementary and incremental improvement on top of those tools. Meaning you’d consider Yottaa AND headless commerce, if you really wanted to crush it with your page speed load time.

What metrics is Yottaa going to improve for my Ecommerce store?

The change in page speed load time you will get when implementing Yottaa varies based on the current state of affairs for your website - do you have a lot of Javascript loading in your header? Large image files, etc. But on average they are seeing most merchants get a 25% - 35% speed load increase.

How this load time exactly affects your conversion rate depends on a few variables within your company: How loyal are your customers? How “warm” are they? What other limitations in conversion rate are haltering the conversion process? etc.

If you’re doing over 1,000 transactions a day, they will roll out as a split test to prove the change in conversion rate. Otherwise they tend to do “performance only” trials which show you page speed load improvements, but don’t split test to prove conversion rate improvements. That is fine since we can basically universally accept that faster loading pages equals more sales.

From their experience, they see that for every one second shaved off, you get a 5% increase in conversion rate.

They additionally have a “Service Ctrl” product that focuses on managing your Content Security Policy (CSP) - which helps you block outside Chrome extensions, ad pop-up tools, and other poor site experiences that may be impacting your conversion rate.

Who has to manage Yottaa and how long does it take to setup?

Getting setup with their tool takes about 4 meetings with their team and making sure that you or your developer can add one basic tag in Google Tag Manager (or the like). After that there is really not much you need to do, just let the tool load on the site and make you money.

Their app is going to be installing two lines of Javascript code in the header of your website and what is going to happen is that they’re tool is going to take control over what is loading on the page and when. Their team does a sort of manual build, specific to your store, to make sure that all those other Javascript snippets, cookies, large image files, etc., are loading based on their immense experience and best practices, rather than just arbitrarily loading your page from top to bottom (the good ole fashioned way).

On-load event (changes bounce rate) vs first interact (for SEO reasons mainly).

Is Yottaa right for my store?

Yottaa is best for merchants with more than 500,000 page views per month and using 15 or more 3rd party tools on their site. Remember, many of these tools YOU don’t even install, they are simply part of your consumers browsing experience or pulled from some of the tools you're using (your tools use other tools, etc.)

Not good for starting stores, or smaller merchants with less than 500,000 page views a month (maybe at 300k+ you can start looking into them, but the more page views, the more powerful their solution will be).
